President
Dan brings two decades of strategic, operational, regulatory and investment experience to Flowcastings across a range of business and consumer sectors. He was previously an investor with MissionPoint Capital Partners, a clean energy and infrastructure investment firm, where he co-led research and origination of new investment opportunities and directed the firm’s public policy work. Dan has served in strategy, M&A and senior operating roles for subsidiaries of the Washington Post Company and Time Warner, as well as VP of sales & marketing for a venture-backed business software company. He was previously at World Resources Institute, performing on-site advisory work on cost accounting for environmental costs and risks at Fortune 500 companies.
Dan's focus on advancing jet engine efficiency through Flowcastings' aviation components arises from his longtime leadership in promoting the transition to a low-carbon economy, as a former Federal regulatory appointee at the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, an Associate Dean at Yale University's School of Forestry and Environmental Studies and a current appointee to the U.S. National Climate Assessment. While at the U.S. EPA, Dan co-led the strategic design of the U.S. Environmental Technology Initiative, and worked with the White House to produce the first U.S. Climate Change Action Plan.
Dan earned a Bachelor of Arts, magna cum laude, from Harvard College, a Master’s and PhD from Stanford University and an MBA from Harvard Business School.
