Dan Abbasi, President & CEO

Dan brings two decades of strategic, operational, regulatory, sales / business development and investment experience to Flowcastings across a range of sectors.
He has worked as a private equity investor with MissionPoint Capital Partners, a clean energy and infrastructure investment firm, where he co-led research and origination of new investment opportunities and directed the firm’s regulatory and public policy work. Later he co-founded GameChange Capital, LLC with Chris Hohn, where he continued his low-carbon investing.

Dan's focus on advancing jet engine efficiency through Flowcastings' aviation components arises from his longtime leadership in promoting the transition to a low-carbon economy.

He served as a Federal regulatory appointee at the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, where he was chief aide to the national program manager of the U.S. Environmental Technology Initiative and co-led the strategic design of the interagency initiative which incubated and funded public/private partnerships to develop advanced technologies. He served as EPA’s designee to the Trade Promotion Coordinating Committee, where he worked on reform to export control rules. Dan also worked with the White House on an interagency process to produce the first U.S. Climate Change Action Plan in 1994.

He later served as Associate Dean at Yale University's School of Forestry and Environmental Studies. He is a current appointee to the U.S. National Climate Assessment. Dan has served in strategy, M&A and senior operating roles for subsidiaries of the Washington Post Company and Time Warner, as well as Vice President of sales & marketing for a venture-backed business software company. He was previously at World Resources Institute, performing on-site advisory work on cost accounting for environmental costs and risks at Fortune 500 companies.

Dan earned a Bachelor of Arts, magna cum laude, from Harvard College, a Master’s and PhD from Stanford University and an MBA from Harvard Business School.
